Merino Wool and Seacell Blend

A unique fibre blend combining Merino wool and SeaCell® to create next-to-skin comfort and wellbeing. In partnership with IMPETUS Portugal Têxteis and FDG

HOW IT WORKS

Sourced from the ocean and harvested from fjords through responsible practices, SEACELL is a next generation cellulose fibre enriched with brown seaweed.

By integrating seaweed directly into the fibre matrix, SEACELL delivers a unique combination of performance and wellbeing benefits, bringing the restorative properties of the marine environment into textile applications.

Designed to support both skin comfort and environmental responsibility, the fibre contains naturally occurring minerals, antioxidants and vitamins derived from kelp. These bioactive elements remain embedded within the fibre structure, even after repeated washing, contributing to a gentle, nourishing effect on the skin while maintaining long term performance.

The natural softness and benefits of Merino wool compliment the nourishing properties of SeaCell®, a fibre derived from brown seaweed rich in antioxidants. The result is a circular, breathable, temperature‑regulating and skin‑friendly material, for health and wellness applications;

From intimates and loungewear to lightweight sports and outdoor apparel, SEACELL enhances fabrics with a smooth, silky hand feel and elevated comfort. The result is a fibre blend suited to active lifestyles, delivering both functionality and comfort.

A SEACELL and Merino wool yarn was developed in Portugal by FDG and features a composition of 70% wool and 30% cellulosic SEACELL. This fibre combination is particularly suited to lightweight knitwear, activewear and next to skin base layers, where comfort, breathability and durability are essential. It reflects a growing shift toward materials that align performance with sustainability, supporting innovation in circular and responsible product development.
