Wool auction sales returned to operation this week in Australia to largely positive but at times, mixed results. A good quantity of 42,500 bales was offered for sale after last week’s recess, an ideal amount to test the strong pre-Easter market conditions. Sentiment from the exporters’ pre sale was very similar to the eventual sale outcomes, with varying views on the market direction, but no one predicting the market would fall away drastically. The standout auction performing types centred on the Merino fleece sector testing in the FNF range of VM (less than 1% vegetable matter), with the broader edge of the selection putting on 25 to 30acents clean/kg.
