Weekly Wool Prices

Week Ending 4 December (Week 23)

4 December 2015

Australian wool auction sales produced mixed results this week with all of the Merino sector performing strongly and the crossbred types struggling somewhat. The stronger Aussie dollar against all major currencies failed to dampen interest in the Merino sector, as volumes of these wools appear to have rapidly diminished. Conversely the larger availability of crossbred types is allowing buyers to be more circumspect in their purchasing, allowing for more advantageous “buy in pricing” for the past few weeks. The EMI (Eastern Market Indicator) rose by a single cent for the week to finish the series at 1247ac/clean kg.
