Australian Wool auction markets reacted positively this week to keener overseas enquiry, local buyer interest and more favourable exchange rates. Prices for all types and descriptions on offer concluded the series at stronger levels, with the Merino fleece sector the major beneficiary. The EMI (Eastern Market Indicator) closed out the selling week 3% higher at 1205ac/clean kg, an increase of 36ac/ clean kg. At the same time last year the EMI was 1036ac/clean kg, so we are presently at levels of more than 16% or 169ac/clean kg better.
