The Wool Lab has fast become a valuable tool for the fashion industry, offering a collective vision for the ultimate wool trends.

Each edition of The Wool Lab presents inspiring trends and is a permanent laboratory to source the best quality products worldwide and to identify the emerging trends in fashion, design, art, pop culture, music and other fields. It is the result of intensive research, aiming to explore the infinite potential of Merino wool and the enhancement of its natural qualities through an innovative production process and imaginative design.

Each edition of The Wool Lab includes swatches, mood boards and presentations that tell a trend story and encourage retailers and brands to view and source wool as a premium fibre. The Wool Lab is available to view in its entirety by contacting your local Woolmark Company office.

Italian-based Global Strategy Advisor for The Woolmark Company Fabrizio Servente said The Wool Lab was born as a response to the need of finding a tool which would help in spreading the use of Merino yarns and fabrics among stakeholders of the fashion world.

“The Wool Lab is a real trend book, with the peculiar characteristic to provide information on market trends as well as on the supply of the fabrics and yarns presented,” Servente said.

“This is done in collaboration with Riccardo Rami Studio based in Florence – a studio with great experience in trends scouting as well as in textile, fashion and design.”

A unique tool on the market, each edition of The Wool Lab pays particular attention to the creativity in finding images and colours which best represent the latest trends. Its producers develop graphical presentations to get the coolest and clearest mix of images and fabrics to allow for maximum information and inspiration for its audience.

“The identification of trends comes from a combination of factors, ranging from the observation of the evolution of lifestyles and social habits, socio-cultural aspects and of the global fashion scene,” Servente said.

“What’s fascinating about The Wool Lab is the study and analysis of different scenarios which produce a different title and mood. Each edition is the discovery of a changing world and many interesting innovations which make the Merino wool fibre more and more in-line with the needs of the contemporary consumer.”

The Wool Lab is a great help for designers in their choice of fabrics and yarns for their collections. The Woolmark Company can also put designers in contact with the suppliers of the fabrics or yarns they selected in the book, making The Wool Lab not only a trend book but a sourcing list and complete educational tool.

The Wool Lab has fast become an important tool for the fashion industry, including brands, retailers, manufacturers and the media, offering a collective vision of the ultimate in wool trends.

Since the inaugural edition, The Wool Lab has found huge success, not only for the great interest raised at public presentations, but also for the many requests received by yarn and fabric producers.
