Nick Wooster’s Merino wool collection for The White Briefs launches in Opening Ceremony

29 October 2015

When fashion commentator Nick Wooster teams up with Swedish label The White briefs, and use Australian Merino wool as their inspiration, the result is an incredibly comfortable and luxe leisurewear collection, which has just launched in hip Manhattan boutique opening Ceremony.

The wait is finally over to get your hands on Nick Wooster’s briefs. Earlier this year The Woolmark Company revealed a collaboration between style arbiter Wooster and Swedish leisurewear brand The White Briefs. Downtown New York boutique Opening Ceremony unveiled the collection with a special installation on October 23, with Wooster making an in-store appearance on October 26. Opening Ceremony’s e-commerce site and Los Angeles store will also stock The White Briefs Nick Wooster for Woolmark collection.

Curated by Wooster, one of the world’s most respected fashion industry influencers, The White Briefs Nick Wooster for Woolmark collection comprises knitted coats, gym shorts, sleek briefs and breezy robes. A rich palette of dark grey, black, deep navy and a modest touch of olive reinforces the quiet strength of the garments and the use of 100 per cent Australian Merino wool brings a natural and renewable element to the premium collection, which blurs the line between indoors and outdoors.

“Merino wool is not a fibre you readily expect for undergarments,” explains Wooster. “Yet besides being 100 per cent natural, Merino wool is also incredibly soft, breathable and lightweight. I’m thrilled to have Opening Ceremony launch The White Briefs Nick Wooster for Woolmark collection and feel that the market is ready to embrace a collection of this calibre.”

Modest and understated, the premium collection is based on the notion of turning the inside out. The sensual nature of the collection is intensified by the use of the world’s softest woollen fibre, superfine Merino wool, combined with woollen fleece, and mesh wools paired with lavish single jersey and French terry.

Opening Ceremony welcomed Wooster to its Manhattan store on Monday, with customers now able to purchase 14 items from The White Briefs Nick Wooster for Woolmark collection, including shirts, trunks, sweaters, pants and robes.

“Having Opening Ceremony officially unveil our Merino wool product really sums up the spirit of the collection, with Opening Ceremony’s savvy, urban customer resonating well with Nick Wooster,” says The White Briefs founder/designer Peter Simonsson.

“The White Briefs has a strong passion for natural fibres, and so Australian Merino wool was the natural choice for this collection. The fibre’s innate luxury and versatility allows the collection to really sing and we believe pushing leisurewear into a league of its own, offering a premium collection for the modern man.”

A trans-seasonal fibre, Merino wool is the natural fit for markets previously dominated by other fibres. Next-to-skin Merino wool apparel provides a high level of comfort, suitable for those seeking a sense of opulent comfort. Wooster’s collection for The White Briefs naturally enhances the innate luxury and versatility of Merino wool, offering a premium leisurewear collection for the modern man.

The White Briefs Nick Wooster for Woolmark collection is now available at some of the world’s hippest retailers, including: Storm, Copenhagen; Colette, Paris; Mohawk General Store, LA; Bungalow Store, Stuttgart; and United Arrows, Tokyo, as well as online via The White Briefs.
