Nick Wooster and The White Briefs produce 100% Merino wool collection

Fashion influencer Nick Wooster has collaborated with Swedish apparel brand The White Briefs to produce a 100 per cent Merino wool capsule collection in partnership with The Woolmark Company, which will be unveiled at Pitti Uomo, January 13 to 16, 2015.

Curated by Wooster – one of the world’s most respected fashion industry influencers - The White Briefs Merino wool collection comprises knitted coats, gym shorts, sleek briefs and breezy robes. A rich palette of dark grey, black, deep navy and a modest touch of olive reinforces the quiet strength of the garments and the use of 100 per cent Australian Merino wool brings a natural and renewable element to the premium collection, which blurs the line between indoors and outdoors.

“I discovered The White Briefs when I was working on a special project curating the best brands from around the world,” says Wooster. “I fell in love with Peter Simonsson's attention to detail, styling and quality. He has the best eye for packaging and great taste in colour and fabric. We collaborated a couple of years ago on a camouflage collection, and I when I started working with The Woolmark Company it was the perfect opportunity to co-design a 100 per cent Merino wool capsule. 

“I love the idea of Merino wool undergarments.  Since this is not an expected fabric and because it is important to me to push the industry forward, I could think of no better partner to work with on this project.”

Modest and understated, the collection is based on the notion of turning the inside out. The sensual nature of the collection is intensified by the use of the world’s softest woollen fibre, superfine Merino wool, combined with woollen fleece, and mesh wools paired with lavish single jersey and French terry.

A trans-seasonal fibre, Merino wool is the natural fit for markets previously dominated by other fibres. Next-to-skin Merino wool apparel provides a high level of comfort, suitable for those seeking a sense of opulent comfort.

“The White Briefs curates its collections around research on unique fabrics, a process that remains integral towards creation,” add The White Briefs Creative Director Peter Simonsson.

“This collaboration gave us the privilege to explore the marvellous characteristics of high-end Merino wool, as well as it provided an incentive to use it in a novel sartorial context.”
