The Woolmark Logo

The Woolmark logo is the world’s best-known textile quality fibre brand, representing a long-term commitment between woolgrowers, mills, brands and consumers.

Trusted by consumers for more than 50 years, the Woolmark brand has adorned more than 5 billion products since the creation of the original mark in 1964.

Showcasing the extraordinary versatility and enduring performance benefits of wool, the Woolmark logo provides quality assurance to the supply chain and end consumer.

There are three main categories of the Woolmark certification

 



Pure new wool

Products created with 100% new wool.
 


Wool rich blend

Products created with between 50% and 99.9% new wool.
 


Wool blend performance

Products created with between 30% and 49.9% new wool.



The certification process


To join the network of manufacturers and brands accepted to adorn their products with the Woolmark logo, a quality certification process must be undertaken. Learn more about certification here.

Yarns, fabrics and garments can all be adorned by the Woolmark logo once they are tested at an independent authorised laboratory and approved by The Woolmark Company.

The testing will confirm the durability, washability, dye-fastness and fibre composition of the product being tested. This will include testing the fibre content of the garment, if the garment loses shape when washed and if the dye runs or fades when washed.

Once this testing is complete and the product passes, it is then able to be adorned by the iconic Woolmark certification logo, confirming to consumers the product’s fibre content and an assurance of quality.

Up until now the Woolmark brand has solely been a quality assurance scheme, but as more consumers want to know about the source of the products they buy, we have initiated a supply chain integrity program. Australian woolgrowers can now brand their wool bales with the Woolmark logo to proudly promote their wool as Australian grown. Australian woolgrowers can order their stencil here.
