The strengthening of prices being paid at our wool auctions across Australia continued this week with added intensity. Exporters competed strongly throughout the series and the pressure to source suitable types to complete outstanding commitments was evident. The weakening Aussie dollar allowed the indent operators to exert a bit more muscle in the sale room, providing the platform for the markets to rise in all types and descriptions on offer. As such we saw good rises of between 15 and 40acents in all auction centres for the Merino sector, with just a little weakening off the peak prices being witnessed towards the close of selling on Thursday.
