The design couple Pankaj & Nidhi, celebrated for their fresh and crisp sensibility, were praised by the judges for their exciting use of colour in their International Woolmark Prize collection at a judging day held on July 19.
Their creations are described as charming and spontaneous, inspired by craftsmanship, symbolic and cultural objects. Their cultural heritage and enthusiasm for colour is clearly reflected in their final submission garment.
The pair now completes the International Woolmark Prize finalist group, who will present their collections in February at London Fashion Week.
The esteemed regional Judging panel who awarded Pankaj & Nidhi this year’s India Woolmark Prize included Sunil Sethi, FDCA; Priya Tanna, Vogue India; Pradeep Hirani, Kimaya Fashions and Simon Lock, Founder of Dubai Fashion Week.
"We are on top of the world, winning the International Woolmark Prize, India, is like a dream come true,” explained the duo. “There are few such opportunities in the world of fashion that can catapult a designer to a global stage and we are proud to have been chosen.”
